Places to play chess in Matosinhos 5

In Matosinhos the chess is concentrated in Leça da Palmeira. The chess section of the Grupo Desportivo Basquete de Leça organises the Leça Chess Open, a nine-round Swiss played in the municipal sports hall each summer with a blitz tournament alongside, and uses its own premises for a classical tournament, a youth cup and a Chess960 festival. It has also held Easter tournaments in a hotel.

Leça Academia 1912 runs frequent small numbered tournaments and, with the parish council, the Open São Miguel Arcanjo, a one-day rapid at the end of September. The Grupo Desportivo Dias Ferreira, runner-up in a recent national league, plays internal tournaments that are sent in for rating, though no source gives its address. Street addresses are known only for Basquete de Leça; for the other clubs, the organiser named in the tournament lists is the way in.
