Chess classes and training around Porto 6

More about this list

Teaching in the Porto area is done by clubs and by companies that work inside schools, and little of it comes with a published timetable. The clearest offer is in Maia, where the academy’s training centre has classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced players and a school league for practice. In Porto, the Escola de Xadrez do Porto organises tournaments in private and international schools and a youth series at the FNAC store of a Gaia shopping centre, and a chess school in Campanhã appears as co-organiser of the Musas tournament on the square.

Xeque-Mate Educação, based in Senhora da Hora, sells chess among other activities to schools across Greater Porto and runs a league of its own. The University of Porto’s sports centre enters teams in the national university championship and announces training by season. The public library’s chess workshop and weekly classes are known only from city news of some years ago, so that card is marked as not confirmed. Prices, ages and class times are almost never published, so ask each provider directly.
